    Light on Yoga

    Light on Yoga

This concept of Yoga creating lightness, ease and stillness is deeply set in the Yoga Texts.

The word Yoga is derived from Sanskrit: yuj – to bind, attach, join and yoke. To direct ones attention on, to use and apply, to unite.

So well defined by Mahadev Desai in his introduction to the Gita according to Gandhi,  he writes  … ‘the yoking of all the powers of body, mind and soul to God; it means the discipline of the intellect, the mind, the emotions, the will, which that Yoga presupposes……it allows us to look at life in all its aspects evenly.’

BKS Iyengar, the Author of the Classic modern Yoga Text ‘Light on Yoga’ , says……

“Yoga is a light which once lit is never dim.

The better the practice, the brighter the flame”

May the light of yoga be with you always.

See you on the mat soon.
