Janet Stevens has been practicing yoga for over 20 years. In addition to her IYTA accreditation & Dip of Education, she has had the opportunity and pleasure of practicing and studying with internationally acclaimed teachers including T.K.V Desikachar and Kausthub Desikachar, Judith Lasater, Rodney Yee, Angela Farmer and Donna Farhi. She is also an NLP Master Practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming.
Janet’s Yoga philosophy centers on the principle of ‘Yoga for You’ – a focus on teaching yoga to suit the individual needs of the student.
Janet draws inspiration from integrating the breadth of yoga philosophy and practice in her teaching. In 2000 Janet completed Donna Farhi’s Teachers’ Training Course and has since assisted Donna in workshops across UK, China, Australia, Tasmania, and in her Advanced Yoga Teacher Training Course in Christchurch New Zealand 2008. She was a guest teacher in Donna’s Women’s Retreat in Christchurch N.Z.2009.
More recently Janet nurtured her continued study of yoga with six weeks in Chennai, India at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram (KYM). The experience has advanced her incorporation of the Yoga Sutras, pranayama, meditation, Vedic chanting and yoga therapy into her practice and teaching.
Janet is one of the lecturers at the IYTA Teacher Training Course teaching Asana, Meditation, Vedic Chanting, and Yoga Philosophy.
